How to request a Pix payment on WhatsApp

Sending your Pix key and the amount in a message works, but it makes the customer type both, and mistakes happen. A Pix copy-and-paste code carries the amount and your name with it: the customer copies it, pastes it in the bank app and confirms.

Steps

  1. Enter your Pix key, name and city exactly as your bank has them.
  2. Add the amount and what the charge is for.
  3. Optionally add the customer's name and WhatsApp number.
  4. Open the message in WhatsApp and send it.
  5. Before handing over the product, check the payment in your own bank app.

Why the copy-and-paste code beats the key

A customer on WhatsApp cannot scan a QR code that is on their own screen. The copy-and-paste code solves that: it is the same data as the QR code, as text, and it fills in the amount and shows your name in their bank app.

The message keeps the code alone on its last line, so pressing and holding it in WhatsApp selects just the code and not the rest of the text.

Choose which key to show

Any key works, but a CPF key puts your CPF in every charge you send. An email, phone or random key (chave aleatória) does the same job without exposing your document number.

Fake receipts are the main scam

The most common fraud in WhatsApp sales is a doctored Pix receipt: an image of a payment that never happened. A variant is the receipt of a scheduled Pix that is cancelled before the date. Pix lands in seconds, so the rule is simple: only hand over the product once the money shows in your own bank app.

The description you give the charge travels with the payment, which helps you match each payment to its order when several customers pay at once.

Frequently asked questions

How do I send a Pix charge on WhatsApp?

Fill in your key, the amount and what it is for in the Pix charge tool, then tap "Open in WhatsApp". The message goes out with the copy-and-paste code on its own line.

Can I trust a Pix receipt the customer sends me?

No. Receipts are easy to fake. Check that the money arrived in your own bank app before delivering anything.

Does the copy-and-paste code expire?

No. The code made here is a static Pix code: it keeps working until you change your key. Each charge carries its own amount.

Is my Pix key sent to a server?

No. The code and the message are built in your browser.
