How it differs from a link QR code
A text QR code opens nothing: it simply shows the content on the screen of whoever scans it. That is the right choice when the information is the message itself rather than a destination on the internet.
It is therefore useful precisely where there is no connection — a warehouse with no signal, equipment in the field, an asset tag. The content lives in the image, so the code is read offline with no network involved.
How much text fits in a QR code
The practical limit in this generator is 1,800 characters, but fitting is not the same as being readable. The more text, the denser the grid and the more demanding the scan: it needs a better camera, more light and a bigger print.
For text beyond a few hundred characters, increase the export size to 1024 px or 2048 px and test scanning at the actual printed size. If scanning fails, shortening the text usually works better than raising error correction.
Accents and special characters
Accents, non-Latin characters and emoji all work: the content is stored as UTF-8, the encoding modern scanners expect. Keep in mind that accented characters take more space than plain letters, so heavily accented text produces a slightly denser code.
Line breaks are preserved, which helps when the text is a list of steps or a multi-line address.
When to use it
- Operating instructions on industrial equipment
- Serial and asset numbers on a label
- A full address on a printed invitation
- A note or dedication on a gift

Frequently asked questions
How do I create a text QR code?
Write or paste the text in the field above. The QR code appears automatically and, when scanned, shows the content as plain text without opening any link.
How many characters fit in a QR code?
This generator accepts up to 1,800 characters. In practice, long text produces very dense codes that are harder to read, so it is worth increasing the export size and testing the scan at the actual printed size.
Does a text QR code work without internet?
Yes. The content is baked into the image itself, so scanning works offline. All you need is a camera app that can read QR codes.
Can I use accents and emoji?
Yes. The text is stored as UTF-8, so accents, non-Latin characters and emoji are preserved by modern scanners.
