Free Wi-Fi QR code generator
Share access to your network without reading out the password. Whoever scans the code connects in one tap — ideal for a reception desk, a café, a clinic, a guesthouse or your living room.
Whoever scans this can read the password, not just use it. For visitors, prefer a separate guest network. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Step by step
- Enter the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears.
- Enter the password and the router security type.
- Tick "hidden network" if the SSID is not broadcast.
- Download, print it and leave the code where visitors can see it.
How connecting by QR code works
The code stores the network name, the password and the security type in a standard format that Android and iPhone recognise natively through the camera. On scanning, the phone shows a prompt asking whether you want to join the network; one tap confirms and the connection happens without anyone typing anything.
On iPhone the feature works through the camera since iOS 11. On Android, since version 10 through the camera and, on earlier versions, through scanner apps. No extra app is needed on current devices.
WPA, WEP or open network
WPA is the right answer for practically any modern router. The option covers WPA, WPA2 and WPA3 — there is no need to distinguish between them in the code.
WEP is an old and insecure standard, kept here only for legacy equipment. If your router still uses WEP, the security recommendation is to change the standard, not to generate the code.
Open network is for Wi-Fi with no password. In that case the password field is removed, because the standard has no password for an open network.
Hidden networks and case sensitivity
If the router does not broadcast the network name, tick the hidden network option. Without it, the phone looks for an SSID that is not being announced and the connection fails silently.
The network name and the password are case sensitive. "CornerCafe" and "cornercafe" are different networks. Copy the values exactly as they are configured on the router — this is by far the most common reason a Wi-Fi QR code does not work.
Security: the code reveals the password
A Wi-Fi QR code carries the password in a form any scanner app can read. Whoever scans it can see the password, not just use it. That is acceptable for a guest network, but not for a company main network.
Good practice is to create a separate guest network on the router and generate the code only for that one. Visitors then get internet without reaching printers, cameras, servers or internal computers.
Generation happens entirely in your browser: the password you type here is never sent to any server.

Frequently asked questions
How do I create a QR code to connect to Wi-Fi?
Enter the network name (SSID), the password and the router security type, usually WPA. The generated code connects the phone to the network without anyone having to type the password.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. iPhone reads it through the camera since iOS 11 and Android since version 10. In both cases the phone shows a prompt asking whether you want to join the network.
Which security type should I choose?
WPA in the vast majority of cases — the option covers WPA, WPA2 and WPA3. Use WEP only on old equipment, and choose open network if the Wi-Fi has no password.
My Wi-Fi QR code does not connect. What could be wrong?
Most often it is a capitalisation difference in the network name or password, which must match the router configuration exactly. If the network does not broadcast its name, the hidden network option also has to be ticked.
Is it safe to print a Wi-Fi QR code?
The code carries the password in a form scanner apps can read, so whoever scans it can see it. For spaces with visitors, the right approach is to create a separate guest network on the router and generate the code only for that one.
Is my network password sent to a server?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser. Nothing you type here leaves your device.
