Convert HEIC to JPG
Turn iPhone HEIC photos into JPG to open them on Windows, upload them to forms or post them where HEIC is not accepted. The conversion runs in your browser — the photo never leaves your device.

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP — the file never leaves your browser
The image is processed inside this tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and EXIF metadata, including GPS location, is not copied into the output file.
Step by step
- Drop the HEIC photo on the area below or choose the file.
- The first time, the converter is downloaded; after that it opens instantly.
- Adjust the JPG quality if you want, or pick PNG or WebP.
- Download the converted photo.
Why the iPhone saves HEIC
Since iOS 11, the iPhone camera saves photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. The format takes about half the space of a JPG at the same quality, which adds up over thousands of photos.
The catch is compatibility: Windows without a paid extension, many government, bank and job-site forms, and plenty of editors cannot open HEIC. JPG works everywhere.
Your photo is not uploaded
Most HEIC converters upload the photo to a server, convert it there and send the result back. Here, the decoder runs inside your browser, in WebAssembly: the image is read and converted on your own device.
That matters for photos of documents, receipts or family. And the metadata — including the GPS location the iPhone records — is not copied into the output file.
Quality and size
At quality 80 to 90 the JPG looks the same as the original. Because HEIC compresses better, the JPG is usually larger than the source file; that is expected.
The photo comes out the right way up: the rotation the iPhone recorded is applied during conversion, so portraits are not left lying on their side.
When to use it
- Opening iPhone photos on Windows
- Uploading a photo to a form that only accepts JPG
- Attaching a photographed document on a bank or government site
- Posting to sites and systems that cannot read HEIC

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert HEIC to JPG for free?
Drop the HEIC photo on this page. It is converted in your browser and the JPG is ready to download, with no sign-up.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The converter runs in your browser. The photo is read and converted on your device and never goes through a server.
Why is the first conversion slower?
No browser other than Safari reads HEIC on its own, so the page downloads a decoder of about 700 KB on first use. It is cached afterwards, and later photos open instantly.
Why is the JPG larger than the HEIC?
HEIC compresses better than JPG. To look the same, the JPG needs more bytes. If size matters, lower the quality to 70 or 75.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG?
Yes. After opening the photo, choose PNG or WebP as the output format. PNG keeps every detail but produces much larger files.
How do I make the iPhone save JPG directly?
In Settings > Camera > Formats, choose "Most Compatible". New photos are saved as JPG; existing ones stay HEIC.
