Card machine fee calculator

Enter the sale amount and your card machine’s rates: the calculator shows the fee, what reaches your account and what to charge to receive the full amount — for debit, credit, instalments and Pix.

Your card machine rates (%)

Fill in only the ones you use. Check the rates in your machine’s app or contract.

Enter the sale amount and at least one rate.

Rates change with the plan, revenue and payout schedule. Instalment rates usually depend on the number of instalments: use the one for the chosen plan.

Step by step

  1. Type the sale amount.
  2. Fill in your machine’s rates for the payment types you use.
  3. For instalments, pick the number of instalments and use that plan’s rate.
  4. Compare in the table what you receive and what to charge to receive the full amount.

How the fee is worked out

The machine keeps a percentage of each sale. On a R$ 100 sale at 1.99%, R$ 1.99 stays with the machine and R$ 98.01 reaches your account.

To receive the whole R$ 100, adding 1.99% to the price is not enough: the fee applies to the raised price. The right price is the target divided by (1 − rate), rounded up to the cent — that is the last column.

Debit, credit, instalments and Pix

Debit usually has the lowest card rate, with one-payment credit just above it. With instalments the rate generally rises with the number of instalments, because it includes the cost of being paid early.

Pix through the machine may or may not carry a fee, depending on the plan. A static Pix QR code from your own account, printed on a sign, is usually free for individuals — check your bank’s terms for business accounts.

Where the rates come from

Rates vary by plan, revenue and the payout schedule you choose, and they change over time. That is why the calculator carries no company’s table: use the rates from your contract or your machine’s app.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out a card machine fee?

Multiply the sale amount by the rate. On a R$ 200 sale at 3.49%, the fee is R$ 6.98 and you receive R$ 193.02. The calculator does this for every payment type at once.

How do I pass the fee on to the customer?

Divide what you want to receive by (1 − rate). To receive R$ 100 at 4.98%, charge R$ 105.24. Adding the percentage to the price does not work, because the fee applies to the raised price.

Why are instalments more expensive?

Because the machine pays you now money the customer pays over months. More instalments mean a longer advance and a higher rate.

Can I charge more for card payments in Brazil?

Yes. Since 2017 the law allows different prices by payment method, as long as the difference is clearly shown to the customer.

Are my numbers sent to a server?

No. The maths happens in your browser. Nothing you type leaves your device.
